hmmm...been a whole week since my last post. where has the time gone? work has been fairly busy, i suppose. but in general, i've just been kinda lazy. well, that's not really true...at times i've felt like writing, but just didn't have the mental strength to do it at that moment. but today seems like a decent time to do it. i'm at work early today, and it's quiet (i'm just doing tape re-broadcasts all morning, so i'm alone right now)...so what's spinning around in the realm of my mind this morning?

well, there's the big leafs trade that i was surprised to learn about when i woke up. not that it should be unexpected, because the rumours were around for weeks. but it's the first big trade made by toronto in several years, and hopefully it's a sign of management waking up. but i'm not going to say any more on this transaction, because there's nothing i could say that hasn't been said dozens of times by other people.

the weather: it sucks, and we all know it. we could get another 3 weeks of this nutty up and down weather. here i was, thinking maybe i could be biking by mid- to end of march, but now i'm starting to think it'll be april before i can get on the bike. oh well...as long as the snow stops, it won't be so bad. yesterday i heard there were over 500 accidents in the morning rush hour. this brings me to my next point, a topic from which i've stayed away for a while: bad drivers. i honestly believe that the majority (probably as much as 90%) of car collisions can be avoided - EVEN in a snowstorm. there will always be exceptions...bad brakes, black ice, no visibility, etc. but even if you consider these factors, there may have been away to avoid the situation. of course, i'm not referring to the unlucky person who gets hit by someone else...naturally that person can't be handed blame for the incident.

of course, i can't shy away from the blame, myself. i don't necessarily slow down that much when the roads may be slippery. but i also don't drive wrecklessly: i stay away from the slower drivers on the road, and most importantly: i pay attention to my driving, and don't let my mind wander. that's really the problem with most drivers out there: talking on the cell phones, not being aware of the other drivers around them, driving too fast, and being too aggressive with drivers who may not be as comfortable driving in those conditions.

anyway, i'm gonna go and watch some of the superman dvd, which i started on the weekend, but haven't had a chance to finish watching. i got inspired to watch it again after seeing last week's smallville with christopher reeve.
